The leak report

Your business is leaking money in five places.

None of them are about the quality of your work - you've got that covered. They're just the gaps between a good job and the customer finding you. Every one has a fix, and every fix below comes as standard on a Digimill site. No add-ons, no upsells.

Leak 01 The unanswered phone

40%

of calls to sole traders go unanswered at peak times - when you're out on the tools

Source: Moneypenny

You're mid-cut on a kitchen fit with the glue going off. Most callers who hit voicemail don't leave one - they ring the next joiner on Google. The job's gone before you've put the tools down.

The Digimill fix

Included · £0 extra

  • Miss the call? We text the caller straight back with a link to your website contact form, so they tell you the job instead of ringing the next name on Google
  • Contact form that texts you the second an enquiry lands - even mid-job
  • Instant email with the customer's name, number and job details
  • WhatsApp button so customers reach you in one tap, no ringing required

What it's costing you

Just one missed £350 job a fortnight is around £9,100 a year. Catch those enquiries instead, and that's money back in your pocket - even on the days you never get near the phone.

Leak 02 The silence after the enquiry

21×

more likely to win the job if you reply within five minutes than after thirty

Source: Harvard Business Review

A homeowner fills in your form at 9pm and gets... nothing. While they wait, they keep Googling. A rival with an instant reply has booked the job before you've even seen the notification.

The Digimill fix

Included · £0 extra

  • Automatic reply to every customer, within seconds, day or night
  • "Thanks Sarah - we've got your enquiry and we'll call you before 9am tomorrow"
  • Buys you the callback window instead of handing the job to whoever's quickest

Why it matters

Jobs are won in the gap between the enquiry and the callback. Close that gap to seconds and you're the one who looks switched-on - so you get the call, not whoever replied first.

Leak 03 Invisible on Google

Page 2

is where homeowners stop looking - and where a trade with no real website ends up

Source: Where nobody scrolls to

Without a proper website you're hard to find when it matters - a Facebook page doesn't cut it when a homeowner is comparing three names at 10pm. And without a Google Business Profile wired into a real site, you're literally missing from Google Maps when someone Googles your trade in your area - the first thing they see. If they can't find you and size you up in seconds, they move on to someone they can.

The Digimill fix

Included · £0 extra

  • Your Google Business Profile set up and connected - so you turn up on Google Maps when someone Googles your trade in your area, not just on a buried website
  • A proper 5-page site: Home, About, Services, Gallery, Contact
  • Local SEO baked in - structure, meta data and area-served schema from day one
  • Loads in under a second, looks sharp on every phone

The opportunity

Those enquiries are happening in your area every week. Show up properly on Google and Maps, and they start landing with you instead of the next name down the list.

Leak 04 The cowboy problem

96%

of consumers read online reviews before choosing a local business

Source: BrightLocal, 2025

Homeowners are wary of getting burned. Before they call, they hunt for Gas Safe, NICEIC, TrustMark, reviews and photos of real jobs. If they can't see the proof in 30 seconds, they can't be sure - so they go with whoever they can.

The Digimill fix

Included · £0 extra

  • Your customers get a text after the job inviting a Google review, then we showcase them on your site
  • A trust bar as standard: accreditations, insurance, years trading
  • A gallery of your actual work - the proof homeowners look for

Why it matters

Trust is decided in the first half-minute on your site. You don't get a second visit.

Leak 05 Callbacks that go nowhere

40 mins

of your lunch break, spent ringing back a job you were never going to take

Source: The daily reality of an unfiltered contact form

A name, a number and 'please call me' tells you nothing. So you ring back jobs that are out of area, out of budget, or work you don't even do. Every dead callback is paid time off the tools.

The Digimill fix

Included · £0 extra

  • Smart form tuned to your trade: emergency, boiler job or bathroom refit?
  • Captures job type, postcode and timeline before you pick up the phone
  • Coverage map on the site, so out-of-area enquiries filter themselves out

What it's costing you

An hour of dead callbacks a week is over a full working week lost every year.

The other side of it

From chasing work
to choosing it.

Right now you might take whatever comes in. But once your site and Google are quietly bringing you more enquiries than you can handle, the whole game changes:

  • You stop saying yes to every awkward, underpaid, out-of-area job.
  • You start picking the work that's actually worth your time.
  • Being busy is good - being busy with the right work is the whole point.

01

Charge what you're worth

More demand than supply means you set the price, not race to the bottom.

02

Work where you want

Take the jobs on your doorstep and leave the long drives to someone else.

03

Leave the jobs you dread

The awkward, underpaid, never-worth-it jobs become someone else's problem.

hello@digimill.co.uk
I get all my work through Facebook - do I even need a website?

Facebook's brilliant for this, keep it. When someone posts "who's a good electrician?" and your customers tag you, that's gold - real recommendations, right there. But here's what happens next: that person now has three or four names, and they go and check each one out. The one with a proper site, reviews and photos of real jobs gets the call. The one with just a Facebook page to scroll through doesn't. Facebook gets you mentioned - your website gets you chosen. We don't replace your Facebook, we connect it in, so the recommendation and the proof work together.

I've already got plenty of work - why would I need this?

Mainly because it's insurance. Work has quiet spells - a big job ends, a regular moves on - and a site Google already trusts takes months to build from scratch. Get it working while you're busy and it's there the day you need it, not when you're scrambling. And even when you're full, it makes you pickier rather than busier: when more enquiries come in than you can take, you stop saying yes to every awkward, underpaid, out-of-area job and start choosing the ones worth your time. Being full is good - being full of the right work is better.

Why not just stay on Checkatrade or MyBuilder?

Keep them if they're working - but directories sell the same lead to you and your competitors, and can cost up to £2,400 a year. Your own site costs less, and every enquiry it catches is exclusively yours.

Do I pay before I've seen anything?

No. We build your preview for free. You only pay your first £149 when you've approved the site and it goes live. If you don't love it, you walk away owing nothing.

Is there really no setup fee?

Really. Most agencies charge £2,000-£3,000 up front to build a site. We charge £0 to set yours up - you don't pay a penny until it's live and you've approved it, then it's just £149/month. The build is on us.

What if I already have a website?

Even better - we'll replace it. Same domain, fresh build, and we handle the switchover so you don't lose a single day of being online.

Do you sort my Google listing and socials too?

Yes - that's the heart of it. We set up and connect your Google Business Profile so you turn up on Google Maps when someone searches your trade in your area, and link your Instagram and Facebook back to the site. Website, Google and socials work as one connected system, not three jobs you juggle.

Can I cancel?

Yes - 30 days' notice, no exit fees, no questions. Your domain is yours to keep either way.

I'm not techy at all. Is that a problem?

Perfect, actually. If you can send a WhatsApp, you can use this. You never log into anything - want something changed, just tell us.

How do the monthly updates actually work?

WhatsApp or email us what you want changing - new job photos, updated prices, a new service, different opening hours - and we make the change for you, usually within a couple of working days. No logins, no tickets, no portal. An hour of changes is included every month, which covers most things comfortably; if a job needs more we'll quote it at £60/hour and agree it before we start.

About us

Matt
Michael, co-founder of Digimill
Michael

We're Matt and Michael, based close to the Lancashire / Yorkshire border - mates for over twenty years, from sharing a house at uni, holidays and one or two questionable nights out, and now business partners. The skills turned out to fit together as well as we do. Matt has spent a decade building fast, reliable websites and software for universities (University of Leeds), government bodies (DWP), and tech firms. Michael has spent five years designing apps and websites for the likes of Sky Bet, Super 6, ITV7, Age Partnership and Angstrom Sports, where every design decision had to earn its keep.

Digimill is those two things in one place: serious engineering and serious design, the kind big companies pay for, made affordable for local businesses. And when you work with us, you're talking to us - no account managers, no call centres, no runaround.
